It's midterm time at Caltech. I finished the Chemistry midterm this afternoon and I will take the Calculus one tonight. Because of the honor code here, all the midterms are take-home. If the test says it's closed book, you're expected to adhere by that. I think that this level of responsibility is good. As I've said before, the Caltech honor code is merely a repackaging of the Christian standard of ethics. The school has their honor code and touts it as something new and unique to Caltech, when really they are pulling from something very old, as old as time.
I thought you all might like to see a picture of the type of work that I am doing. This problem is from my math set last week; I think it took me an hour to do this page. I couldn't figure out how to photograph it very well and the resolution is poor, but you get the idea.
